It’s important to choose the correct tire size for your vehicle. This ensures the correct handling, lifespan and performance of your tires. But what do all those numbers and letters mean?
Let’s look at the tire size: P235/40R19 99V.
Tire Type – The “P” stands for passenger car in P-metric size. If your tire doesn’t have a “P”, it’s likely a European metric tire.
Tire Width – This is the width of your tire in millimetres, from sidewall to sidewall. This tire size measures 235mm in width.
Aspect Ratio – This is the ratio of the height of the tire’s cross-section to its height, with lower numbers meaning stiffer sidewalls. This tire has an aspect ratio of 40.
Construction – The “R” indicates that the tire is a Radial tire.
Wheel Diameter – The diameter of the wheel when measured from one end to another. This dictates the size of the wheel the tire must be mounted on. This tire has a diameter of 19 inches.
Load Index – This number indicates how much weight the tire can support with maximum air pressure. A 99 load index means this tire can handle a load of 1,709 lbs.
Speed Rating – This number tells you the maximum speed capability of the tire and is often matched to the top speed of your vehicle. The letter “V” indicates that these tires have a maximum speed rating of 240km/h.

The leader of the pack for cargo capacity is the 2025 Toyota RAV4! No surprise there, as the RAV4 is the best-selling Toyota SUV of all time. It can hold a maximum of 1977L with the rear seats folded down, and still manages an amazing 1059L with the seats up. The luxurious full-size Toyota Sequoia can seat seven or eight passengers and is the largest SUV in the Toyota line-up. The smallest midsize SUV is the Toyota 4Runner with an exterior length of 4950mm, but it can still seat between five to seven passengers and hold a total cargo volume of 2381L. In comparison, the Toyota Land Cruiser, which is similar in size, doesn’t have configurations that increase seating capacity beyond five passengers. Not to worry though! The Land Cruiser can hold up to 2322L, with plenty of space for whatever you need on your next outdoor adventure.
