2023 Toyota Sequoia Exciting Updates

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is projected to hit Edmonton dealerships later this year and our customers have been asking us about all the juicy details of this newly redesigned three-row SUV.

Things have certainly changed this year in the new Sequoia. Some of the biggest takeaways include:

  • Meet The New Luxury Sequoia Trim — Capstone
  • The Sequoia Now Comes Standard as a Hybrid
  • Five Trim Levels Means Something For Everyone
  • The Sequoia Gets a Brand New Multimedia System
  • Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 Comes Standard Across All Trims

At West Edmonton Mall Toyota, our job is to know the ins and outs of all our vehicles so you can choose the right Toyota for your lifestyle. This post will break down all the changes for the new Sequoia including possible trim levels and how to be one of the first in Edmonton to take one home.

Meet The New Luxury Sequoia Trim — Capstone

The new 2023 Sequoia Capstone is the highest trim level you can go. It includes everything you get in the Platinum level including things like heated and ventilated front and second-row, a 14-speaker JBL Premium Audio system, high-grade LED headlights and taillights and more. But the Capstone levels up even more by adding things like 22-inch chrome wheels — exclusively available on the Capstone trim —  standard power running boards, and acoustic glass in the front doors to muffle sound from the outside when you hit the road.

There are some seriously nice aesthetic upgrades, too. Inside the cabin find semi-aniline leather-trimmed seats. The centre console and passenger-side dash are outfitted with authentic American Walnut. Every detail reinforces that this is the most luxurious Sequoia built to date.

The Sequoia Now Comes Standard as a Hybrid

Clearly, the biggest change in the Sequoia is its new standard engine — the twin-turbo V6 hybrid i-FORCE MAX powertrain first debuted in the 2023 Tundra. This engine offers up a lot of power putting out 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque.

The engine is special in a few ways but the big takeaway is the way Toyota designed it. A unique motor generator within the bell housing between the twin-turbo engine and the 10-speed automatic transmission works to give drivers maximum performance and amazing efficiency. We should also mention the 2023 Sequoia can tow up to 9,000 lbs making it a perfect choice for weekenders looking to pull their trailers and toys all season long.

Five Trim Levels Means Something For Everyone

The 2023 Sequoia is big on space and can be used in any which way you want. Whether that be to tow all your friends and family or haul gear for that next adventure.

The Sequoia comes in five trim levels including TRD Off-Road, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro and Capstone. Each trim level offers something unique for everyone, but the recurring themes of space and utility are threaded throughout each model. The Sequoia Gets a Brand New Multimedia System

The Sequoia takes the new hybrid engine from the Tundra as well as its new multimedia system. Choose between a standard  8-inch or available 14-inch touchscreen that controls the all-new Toyota Multimedia system.

If you haven’t experienced Toyota Intelligent Assistant yet, you are in for a treat. Voice commands like “Hey Toyota” bring the system to life and let you do everything from checking the weather to directions and more.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 Comes Standard Across All Trims

As most Toyota loyalists would suspect, all Sequoia models come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5. This includes the safety features you have come to expect and love in your Toyota like…

Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection has now been improved so that it not only detects the vehicle ahead but also pedestrians in dim light, bicyclists during the day and an oncoming vehicle or pedestrian at intersections when turning.

Emergency Steering Assist is also included and helps drivers by adding an emergency steering maneuver when necessary to keep you in your lane and to protect pedestrians and other vehicles.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist are also in the 2023 Sequoia. You get audible and visual alerts and subtle steering corrections if the feature sees your vehicle has left its lane without you putting the turn signal on.

Drivers will also enjoy Automatic High Beams and Blind Spot Monitor. Rear Cross Traffic Alert is available and Capstone buyers will enjoy Rear Seat Reminder which tells you whether a rear door was opened within 10 minutes of the vehicle being turned on, or at any time after the vehicle has been turned on.
